Cai Guo-Qiang: Fireflies

Association for Public Art

Role: Design, art direction
Team: Patrick Hardy (creative direction/CCO)

Art, in motion.

When Fireflies, an experiential art installation by world-renowned artist Cai Guo-Qiang, descended upon the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, we created the visual identity for the project. Commissioned by the Association For Public Art, Fireflies was comprised of 27 pedicabs adorned with hundreds of colorful lanterns that flitted through the night, transporting passengers in a nightly dazzling spectacle.

I was honored (and starstruck) to work in partnership with Cai Guo-Quiang to develop this body of work so that his hand is felt throughout. As it should be.
